The full moon this month was setting right behind Pigeon Lighthouse near Davenport, CA. Usually when the full moon sets over this area, a strong marine layer of fog occludes the moon. Winter is when you get your best chance of clear weather and Sunday morning we were very lucky. There was fog but at a higher altitude, so when the moon went under the fog layer it was perfect.

Last year was not my most productive year as a photographer. I still took over 20000 images but it’s half what I did in 2014. And it’s not because I have not traveled abroad (I went to Ethiopia, Japan, France and Turkey) but I did not go out locally as much as I usually do. This year, for the first time, I made a calendar. This is a 2016 calendar featuring San Francisco. The local printing company I have been using for years, started offering the option to print calendars. At first, I was not convinced of the value of those calendars, but a friend of mine was asking me if I could sell him a print in the $30 range. After going south to Channel Islands National Park, this short trip will take out not far from San Francisco to Stinson Beach and Bolinas. I just came back from installing my new exhibit at the San Mateo Main Library. It’s always an honor and pleasure to exhibit at the library. Since I was a kid I have always loved libraries, the San Mateo Main library is a beautiful building with convenient parking underground.
